GLOWSTOCK

Overview

Two DJs decide to organize, market, and perform their own party within a two week span. How hard could it be?

Enter GLOWSTOCK. What began as an idea to perform during the month of April transformed into a celebration of April’s holidays under one electric blacklight rave party. A collaboration between good friend and fellow DJ, OTHENTIC and I, the event was a special opportunity to play the role of performer, marketer, and event organizer.

Hosted at Bula Kavananda in Seminole Heights, organizing the blacklight event allowed us to dictate the creative direction of the event — from marketing and branding to vendors and performances. With assistance from DJ MILA KILLA and Killa Studios, our event was entirely grassroots organized and community-centric, bringing individuals and vendors together in celebration of arts, music, culture and community.

In alignment with the vibe of blacklight and glow parties, the 76 minute set incorporates a mix of classic and current tracks across the EDM spectrum, including deep house, nu-disco, and drum & bass. As closer for the event, my goal was to kickoff the set with intensity and maintain the momentum throughout the entire set. I was fortunate to receive resounding praise for the set.

* Massive thanks go out to DJ OTHENTIC, MILA KILLA and Killa Studios, Bula Kavananda, and the numerous vendors that took part in making our first event a success. You can listen to the GLOWSTOCK set at the link here.
